Please note that the article only mentions the completely discredited Flat Earth Society. NO one from Mainstream ever talks to Flat Earth truthers except the shills. That is why it is a psyop and not an honest examination into FE. Still, it gets more looking at the subject.
One day they may even teach Flat Earth theory and a 5,000 year TheoCosmology in schools…or am i just dreaming?
Why athletes are drawn to the flat earth theory
Do you believe in gravity, and the science behind planetary formation? Do you turn up your nose at the thought of a giant ice wall at the edge of the world that extends into dark void? Do you believe that the NCAA didn’t purposefully sabotage Villanova’s championship run in order to preserve the ailing Power Five? If so, you’re at odds with a surprising number of people — including NBA stars — who believe the flat-Earth theory in defiance of previously established science. It’s a strange phenomenon to be sure, but one deserving more than a simple scoff.
Kyrie Irving made headlines in mid-February when he asserted, “This is not even a conspiracy theory. The Earth is flat.” He continued, “It’s right in front of our faces. I’m telling you, it’s right in front of our faces. They lie to us.”
Flat earth is NOT a theory but our reality, stop talking like that, we do not “believe” earth is a it flat enviroment

theory (n.)
1590s, “conception, mental scheme,” from Late Latin theoria (Jerome), from Greek theoria “contemplation, speculation; a looking at, viewing; a sight, show, spectacle, things looked at,” from theorein “to consider, speculate, look at,” from theoros “spectator,” from thea “a view” (see theater) + horan “to see,” possibly from PIE root *wer- (4) “to perceive” (see ward (n.)).

jwlpeace,
I appreciate a historical perspective on language and words. There also exists a broader view beyond history.
Just as science and other areas of knowledge advance with time, so too do word meanings change. A more recent and refined definition for theory:
“a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena”
Additionally, when theory gets combined with things of a scientific nature:
“A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. Such fact-supported theories are not “guesses” but reliable accounts of the real world.”
