While this is a fascinating topic, I was never able to confirm that the Navy claims the railgun is line-of-sight, like the video claims. This doesn’t surprise me, as the armed forces in general, have been innovators in applying technology to solve battle questions via science.

One of the first general-purpose computers, the ENIAC, was developed to help calculate firing tables for artillery weapons during WWII. I don’t know the exact details, but I would guess the input variables, like weather conditions, target distance, elevation, earth curvature, propellant force/energy, as well as the gravitational forces on the shell were complex, and the computer improved precalculating as much of this as possible to increase weapon effectiveness.

Now, 7 decades later, I doubt they could forget about gravity and curvature just because the weapon is incredibly high-tech. Other than that gap in the video, this was a very fun topic.
