ISS Space Station Cannot Ever Be Seen Unless You Can Always See It!

“You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know.”  – William Wilberforce

ISS in “Fixed” Position above Earth

Thought Project:

According to NASA, the ISS space station is in a “Geostationary Orbit” with the Earth.

The US Orbital Segment (USOS) makes use of two separate radio links mounted in the Z1 truss structure: the S band (used for audio) and Ku band (used for audio, video and data) systems. These transmissions are routed via the United States Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) in geostationary orbit, which allows for almost continuous real-time communications with NASA’s Mission Control Center (MCC-H) in Houston.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geostationary_orbit

A geostationary orbit (GEO) is a circular geosynchronous orbit in the plane of the Earth’s equator with a radius of approximately 42,164 km (26,199 mi) (measured from the center of the Earth). A satellite in such an orbit is at an altitude of approximately 35,786 km (22,236 mi) above mean sea level. It maintains the same position relative to the Earth’s surface!

ISS Is Synchronized with Earth!!!

This means that the ISS space station cannot be seen unless you are directly underneath or near side to it due to the exact same SYNCHRONIZED speed at 17,500 mph to mirror the alleged Earth’s Rotation of 1,000 mph below.

In other words:

A person standing on Earth either would ALWAYS see the ISS if below it directly or nearly underneath it

……or NEVER EVER see it because it is perfectly synchronized orbit with Earth and always in the same location above and you are not underneath it.

Always the same position relative to Earth! Always!!!

A geostationary orbit, geostationary Earth orbit or geosynchronous equatorial orbit[1] (GEO) is a circular orbit 35,786 kilometres (22,236 mi) above the Earth’s equator and following the direction of the Earth’s rotation.[2] An object in such an orbit has an orbital period equal to the Earth’s rotational period (one sidereal day), and thus appears motionless, at a fixed position in the sky, to ground observers. Communications satellites and weather satellites are often placed in geostationary orbits, so that the satellite antennas (located on earth) which communicate with them do not have to rotate to track them, but can be pointed permanently at the position in the sky where the satellites are located. Using this characteristic, ocean color satellites with visible and near-infrared light sensors (e.g. the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI)) can also be operated in geostationary orbit in order to monitor sensitive changes of ocean environments.

A geostationary orbit is a particular type of geosynchronous orbit, the distinction being that while an object in geosynchronous orbit returns to the same point in the sky at the same time each day, an object in geostationary orbit never leaves that position.

Radar-trackable objects including debris, with distinct ring of geostationary satellites

Bonus Question:

And how does the ISS and some 20,000 alleged satellites avoid space debris while traveling continuously at @ 17,500 mph orbiting in space without hitting…and destroying a satellite…or a space walker…or a solar panel or two?

There are over 100 million pieces of debris smaller than 1 cm (0.39 in) as of March 2012. From one to ten cm at ~500,000, large debris[1] (10 cm across or larger) at 21,000.[2] The technical measurement cutoff is ~3 mm (0.12 in).[2] Over 98 percent of the 1,900 tons of debris in low Earth orbit (as of 2002) was accounted for by about 1,500 objects, each over 100 kg (220 lb);[5] total mass is mostly constant despite addition of many smaller objects, since they reenter the atmosphere sooner. Using a 2008 figure of 8,500 known items, it is estimated at 5,500 t (12,100,000 lb). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_debris

A 7 gram object (shown in centre) shot at 7 km/s (23,000 ft/sec) (the orbital velocity of the ISS) made this 15 cm (5 7/8 in) crater in a solid block of aluminum.

Great Point. Their lies are sometimes easily disproved; sometimes it takes quite a bit of research but lies will never become the truth.

Actually the ISS is not in Geostationary orbit so please retract this article because it is incorrect information and people will use it to deride your website. Doesn’t mean there is an ISS but NASA claims that it is in low Earth orbit around 400 km. up where Geostationary satellites are supposedly 35,000 km up. How they get there is a mystery!

uhhh nope, one in the same.

Geostationary and geosynchronous mean the same. It is an orbit where the satellite has an orbital period of 1 sidereal day. It is at an altitude of 35786 km from MSL. ISS is in low earth orbit of 330-435 from MSL with an orbital period of 92.69 minutes.

Jwlpeace have to agree with psandhu2015 on both points. This one is a miss and I otherwise really like your site.

US_Orbital_Segment is part of the ISS while Tracking_and_Data_Relay_Satellite supposedly tracks the movement and relays communications from ISS.

Tracking_and_Data_Relay_Satellite is supposedly in GSO while ISS is supposedly in low earth orbit.

I do find your wikipedia links for each of these interesting. Both articles are very in depth and professionally written yet have numerous citations asking for greater accuracy.

I imagine a NASA team writing these imaginary sci fi wiki entries!!!

    If psandhu2015 is Paul Sandhu?
Hi Paul. I have enjoyed your interviews with the Goldenjackass. 👍
You are one of few that can keep up with him.

    Hi Jamie

After you asked me about this I couldn’t find the post.
    This is the one.
In my comment above I was trying to state that I felt you misread the originating article.

My read on this article is that the ISS (supposedly) moves in a low earth orbit and communicates with the “United States Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) in geostationary orbit”.

It is the United States Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) that (supposedly) is in geostationary orbit. The ISS (supposedly) flys past this communication system sending and receiving data.

Of course, to paraphrase David Weiss “there is no space and there are no satellites” so all of this is bunk anyway.

    Cheers Phil

Hey blue, i was researching telescopes to buy and found some interesting pics from a bloke in Brisbane. Google 12 inch dobsonian iss flickr.

He photographed the last shuttle docking with iss in 2011 and has pics of hubble with moon behind…
    gotta get me a 12inch GoTo lightbucket…
    if his pics are real…?
Anyone want to throw me a couple grand to buy a good telescope, lol.
