The sun and moon appear the same size in Earth’s sky because the sun’s diameter is about 400 times greater – but the sun is also about 400 times farther away.

As early as the time of Pliny, there are records of lunar eclipses happening while both the Sun and Moon are visible in the sky. The Greenwich Royal Observatory recorded that “during the lunar eclipses of July 17th, 1590, November 3rd, 1648, June 16th, 1666, and May 26th, 1668 the moon rose eclipsed whilst the sun was still above the horizon.” McCulluch’s Geography recorded that “on September 20th, 1717 and April 20th, 1837 the moon appeared to rise eclipsed before the sun had set.”
Sir Henry Holland also noted in his “Recollections of Past Life” the April 20th, 1837 phenomena where “the moon rose eclipsed before the sun set.” The Daily Telegraph recorded it happening again on January 17th, 1870, then again in July of the same year, and it continues to happen during lunar eclipses to this day. Therefore the eclipsor of the Moon cannot be the Earth/Earth’s shadow and another explanation must be sought. Some olden days flat Earthers posited a third dark body, the same size as the Moon/Sun, and perhaps this passes affront the Moon during lunar eclipses? “Is it possible to observe a lunar eclipse during daylight? Normally not.
During an eclipse the sun and the moon are pretty much exactly opposite. So if one is above the horizon, the other must be below the horizon. So both can not be visible at the same time. One could say the body of the earth blocks the view.
Only under very special circumstances can both object be visible when they are opposite to each other. At this time for example both touch the horizon at the same time. One rises when the other sets. Then comes our atmosphere. Refraction apparently lifts objects a bit higher. The more the closer the object is to the horizon. At the time of sunset the solar disk is lifted about 30arc minutes (about it’s own diameter). Also if one observes from a very high mountain the apparent horizon is somewhat lower as we observe a bit around the curvature of the earth.
These conditions came together on August 16 1989 when a lunar eclipse happened where the moon passes through the shadow cast into space by the earth. During the partial phase of the eclipse the moon was rising as seen from the top of Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii. The mountain has an altitude of 4200m and give the impression of rather standing on the edge of the earth than on the surface.

Sounds like something someone made up. The Greenwich Royal Observatory didn’t exist until 1675.

after read sLeZ comment I went checked the Wiki and found that Greenwich Royal Observatory was commissioned in 1675. so who’s documented lunar esclipes that happened on 17th, 1590, November 3rd, 1648, June 16th, 1666, and May 26th, 1668 ? your fellow Flat Earther ? if the unseen black sun is the main reason. why we cant see its shadow in a normal day? because it’s invisible?’so why on lunar esclipes we can see its shadow? some sorcery doing? a Flat earth magician work?

Well, the sun and moon are visible at the same time during the so called Selenhelion Eclipse! Basic description of this phenomenon is available even in Wikipaedia!
” A selenelion or selenehelion occurs when both the Sun and the eclipsed Moon can be observed at the same time. This can happen only just before sunset or just after sunrise, and both bodies will appear just above the horizon at nearly opposite points in the sky. This arrangement has led to the phenomenon being referred to as a horizontal eclipse. There are typically a number of high ridges undergoing sunrise or sunset that can see it. Although the moon is in the Earth’s umbra, the Sun and the eclipsed Moon can both be seen at the same time because the refraction of light through the Earth’s atmosphere causes each of them to appear higher in the sky than their true geometric position”.
What the Flat Earth eejits are not telling you is that both the sun and moon are not “overhead” but close to the horizon!

The sun and moon are visible at the same time frequently at sea level, not just on “a number of high ridges undergoing sunrise or sunset.” You may want to stop accepting what you’re told by the people you perceive as your superiors and truly look up at the sky for the first time in your life and think about what you see. “Selenhelion” sounds really cool though so maybe I’m wrong!

I found a copy of Cook’s book online, and saw your quote of his on page 58. There was also a diagram of what he was describing. All I could tell from his diagram was that he wasn’t even showing a moon being eclipsed; it was fully lit by the sun,
Based on his own publication, Cook just doesn’t seem to support the claim he makes, and therefore his work doesn’t support this post.

I live in Fiji and on Wed 14 Sep 2016 (last week) whilst on my way to work that morning, I witnessed in the sky an object looking like the full moon (big beautiful and silver) next to the brilliant sun (partially covered under cloud cover). But knowing that it is impossible to have a full moon right next to the sun in current heliocentric moon phase model – I noted this phenomena. I called different family members to go see this phenomena but not being interested, they only noted that the cloud cover hid everything and thus they saw nothing. That night I noted the ‘full’ moon in the sky.
Next day on Thursday 15 Sep. again on my way to work that morning, I witnessed in the sky the same thing. A ‘full’ moon (big beautiful silver and serene) next to the sun (brilliant blinding gold disc) which was partially hidden by the clouds. The difference between the two objects being very prominent – the silver disc definitely in contrast to the blinding brilliant gold disk with sun rays emanating from it. This time my sister was with me and also witnessed this phenomena. She is a teacher and believes in the heliocentric earth model. She believed it was the moon and I reminded her that the moon set in the morning i.e. it not being the moon.
I took pictures both days. Alas – you cannot make out the moon-like object as the suns rays are overpowering (even with the sun disk behind the clouds).

Sani, the same thing happens here (New Zealand, central North Island), often. The last time was just over a week ago (April 2021), both sun and moon out during the day for 3 consecutive days, just as you described. Very strange to say the least. And also I have noticed the sun rising in a completely different place – where it shouldnt be (Mid March this year)- only happened 1 day….I even went online to see if anyone else had noticed this…I couldnt find anything, but a few weeks later I was listening to Charlie Ward, and said the exact same thing had happened to him, he is in Spain. Weird things happening in the heavens lately!

One must be willing to accept the fact that everything we have ever been told is a lie, and then be able to throw away all your erronius beliefs in order to seek and re learn what we thought we knew. Not everyone is willing or able to do that. I started my quest when I looked up one day and realized they were spraying us. Globe Earth is a myth created centuries ago by the powers that be to control, demoralize the masses. I don’t try to convince anyone that the Earth is flat. People must come to the truth when they are ready. All anyone has to do is look up.
